WARNING: FRANKENSTEIN IS RUNNING AMOK IN MIAMI

Anti-Cuba extremist groups in Miami -- organized as a result of the
U.S. government's hostility against socialist Cuba and used to attempt
to destabilize the island -- have placed Washington in a difficult
position.

For forty years, these groups have carried out crimes against the
Cuban people and have always been protected and even given recognition
by U.S. authorities. As a result, these reactionary groups have turned
into a dangerous monster, a sort of political Frankenstein which acts
with impunity, ignoring the authorities and laws of the country in
which it lives.

That is why Cuban President Fidel Castro recently warned that
six-year-old Elian Gonzalez, who is still being illegally held in
Miami, could become the victim of a sinister action such as being
taken to a third country or even suffering physical harm at the hands
of his captors, who appear to be willing to do anything and everything
to keep him from returning to Cuba.

There is reason to believe that those who have perpetrated so many
crimes against the Cuban people will stop at nothing to insure that
the boy stays in the United States, something that would further
damage the U.S. government's international prestige.

Urgent measures must be taken in order to guarantee the safety of
Elian Gonzalez, who is currently surrounded by unscrupulous, distant
relatives controlled by the anti-Cuba Mafia in Miami.

Although with marked hesitation and weakness, U.S. authorities have
adopted the correct position. That is why they must not allow such
criminal behaviour on the part of the right wing Cuban-American
community, which has manipulated the boy and caused him serious and
possibly irreversable psychological harm.
