The influential Spanish daily "El Pais," as well as Madrid's radio and television newscasts, reported on the meeting which took place in Havana Sunday night. The media pointed out that the main topic of discussion was next November's Ibero- American Summit in the Cuban capital -- a priority for both Cuba and Spain. The two leaders also discussed regional cooperation, the need for industrialized countries to ease their financial obligations on Third World nations and the effects of Washington's nearly 40-year-old economic blockade against the Cuban people. The Spanish official took part in the Second Meeting of Economy and Finance Ministers, which took place Thursday and Friday last week in the Cuban capital. CAMBODIAN PRIME MINISTER ARRIVES IN HAVANA TOMORROW Havana, September 7(RHC)-- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will arrive in Havana on Wednesday at the invitation of Cuban President Fidel Castro. The Cambodian leader will be accompanied by other top government officials. Relations between Cuba and Cambodia have been historically good, as both countries have defended the interests of Third World nations and have worked to broaden friendship ties and economic cooperation. The visit of the Cambodian leader is part of a growing and sustainable level of exchange that Cuba has been developing with Asian nations. GUATEMALAN PRESIDENT VISITS CUBA LATER THIS MONTH Havana, September 7(RHC)-- Guatemalan President Alvaro Arzu will officially visit Cuba next September 28th. During the visit, Guatemala and Cuba will sign an agreement in the fight against drug-trafficking. Guatemala's ambassador to Cuba, Willy Kaltschmitt, pointed out that President Arzu will be accompanied by business executives and representatives from the tourism and cultural sectors. The Guatemalan ambassador to Havana added that President Alvaro Arzu will personally thank his Cuban counterpart, Fidel Castro, for the assistance provided by Cuban medical personnel currently serving in that Central American nation. Diplomatic relations between Cuba and Guatemala were re-established in 1998. IBERO-AMERICAN ADVANCE PREPARATORY MEETING WRAPS UP Havana, September 7(RHC)-- The Advance Preparatory Meeting of the Presidents of Latin America, Spain and Portugal has wound up in Havana after analyzing preparations for the 9th Ibero- American Summit, slated for November in the Cuban capital. Protocol directors, security and media representatives of 19 Ibero-American nations gathered information on lodging, medical attention, services, communications and other logistical questions. Delegates toured areas that the Ibero-American leaders will visit during their stay in the Cuban capital, such as Havana's Jose Marti International Airport, the Palace of the Revolution and Old Havana. A public drawing was held to determine in which Houses of Protocol the heads of state will stay during the Ibero- American Summit. This is the first time that the leaders will not stay in a hotel. MEXICAN BUSINESS DELEGATION FROM QUINTANA ROO IN CUBA Havana, September 7(RHC)-- A business delegation from the Mexican State of Quintana Roo is visiting Cuba to explore business opportunities on the island. Members of the delegation are primarily interested in the food and construction industries. The Quintana Roo delegation will meet with Cuban government officials related to the sectors and members of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce. Mexico is among Cuba's main trading partners while bilateral economic relations with Quintana Roo involve multi-destination tourism, giving European vacationers who visit Cuba the chance to fly to Cancun.
