La Tribuna newspaper stated that the patriotism shown by Cuba's baseball players was worth more than the nearly 80 million dollars that the Baltimore Orioles spend on their player's salaries each year. Nicaragua's El Nuevo Diario dedicated two entire pages to the game in its sports section and provided extensive coverage to the warm welcome the players received from the Cuban people and President Fidel Castro on Tuesday. The newspaper announced that Cuban and Nicaraguan teams may soon play a friendly series in Havana and Managua. Sports officials from both countries discussed the idea in Baltimore, where a large Nicaraguan delegation watched the game. According to a correspondent from the El Nuevo Diario newspaper, the President of the Nicaraguan Baseball Federation, Carlos Garcia, talked about the possible baseball series with the President of the Cuban Olympic Committee, Jose Ramon Fernandez. PRESIDENT OF INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ARRIVES IN HAVANA Havana, May 6(RHC)-- The President of the International Chamber of Commerce, Adnan Kaspar, has arrived in Havana at the invitation of Cuba's Chamber of Commerce. Kaspar is slated to meet with Cuban Foreign Trade Minister Ricardo Cabrisas, Economy and Planning Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez and the President of Cuba's Central Bank Francisco Soberon. Upon his arrival at Havana's Jose Marti International Airport, the president of the International Chamber of Commerce said that Cuba is a country of great possibilities and that his institution hopes to assist the island in all it needs. MEETING OF IBEROAMERICAN WOMEN MINISTERS UNDERWAY IN PORTUGAL Lisbon, May 6(RHC)-- The President of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), Vilma Espin, spoke about the global economic crisis and its effects on women. The Cuban official addressed the Fifth Meeting of Iberoamerican Women Ministers underway in Lisbon, Portugal. Delegates from 16 countries approved a Final Declaration and stated that they would deliver copies of the document to all heads of state or government that participate in the Iberoamerican Summit scheduled to take place in Havana next November. CUBAN DOCTORS TRAVEL TO GAMBIA AS PART OF COOPERATION ACCORD BETWEEN BOTH COUNTRIES Banjul, May 6(RHC)-- Some one hundred Cuban doctors will soon travel to Gambia as part of a health cooperation agreement between both countries. According to Dr. Pedro Alfonso, head of a medical Cuban delegation currently visiting that African country, the doctors are preparing to leave Havana in the near future. The Cuban delegation is participating in a round table organized by Gambian health authorities, aimed at inaugurating a medical school in Banjul, the capital. CUBA-ITALY FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION RESPECTS CUBAN REVOLUTION AND ITS SELF-DETERMINATION Havana, May 6(RHC)-- The President of the Cuba-Italy Friendship Association, Arnaldo Cambiagui, said that his country's solidarity with the Cuban people is based on respect towards the Cuban Revolution and non-interference into the internal affairs of the island. Cambiagui told reporters that the association supported the recent decision to try four counterrevolutionaries who collaborated with the economic and political war waged by the United States against Cuba. The head of the Cuba-Italy Friendship Association stated that the organization currently has some 6000 affiliates.
