During on-going debates at the Special United Nations Committee on International Terrorism, Cuba's permanent representative before the world body -- Bruno Rodriguez -- provided participants with detailed information on the trials in Havana of two Salvadoran terrorists. Rodriguez pointed to the abundant amount of evidence implicating anti-Cuba organizations -- particularly in the U.S. states of Florida and New Jersey and well-known Cuban- American terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, who currently resides in El Salvador. Cuba's United Nations ambassador said that Cuba has been forced to confront these types of activities for the past 40 years. Bruno Rodriguez stated that amid accusations by Havana that the Cuban-American National Foundation was involved in terrorist actions inside Cuba, Washington sent a delegation to the island nine months ago. He said that Cuban State Security officials gave members of the delegation abundant information and that the group promised to return in two weeks. Cuba's UN ambassador noted that Havana is still waiting for the delegation to return. SECOND GROUP OF HONDURAN MEDICAL STUDENTS ARRIVE IN CUBA Havana, March 19(RHC)-- A second group of Honduran students that will study medicine in Cuba have arrived on the island. The students join other Central American youth at Havana's Latin American Medical School, where they are studying on scholarships offered by the Cuban government to countries affected by Hurricane Mitch. Upon their arrival at Havana's Jose Marti International Airport, the Honduran students thanked the Cuban government and people. They also praised the Cuban doctors who are offering their services in Central America. More Honduran young people are scheduled to arrive in Havana this weekend -- bringing the total number of Central American medical students to nearly 1000. SEMINARS ON BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN CUBA HELD IN CANADA Toronto, March 19(RHC)-- More than 100 business executives and representatives of 70 companies attended a seminar called "When, Where, Why and How to Invest in Cuba," sponsored by the Canadian Club in Toronto, Canada. The Cuban Minister of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation Ibrahim Ferradaz offered the keynote address at the seminar and answered a number of questions from the audience. A similar meeting was held in Vancouver on Wednesday, organized by the World Trade Center and the Canadian Council for the Americas in which 90 business executives took part. Another seminar on business investment in Cuba is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, in Quebec, Ontario -- organized by the Quebec Chamber of Commerce. FIFTH CONGRESS OF CUBA'S AMATEUR RADIO FEDERATION UNDERWAY Santa Clara, March 19(RHC)-- The 5th Congress of Cuba's Amateur Radio Federation is underway in the central city of Santa Clara with the participation of 162 national delegates. During the meeting, three main issues are being discussed: the development of radio amateurs, technical conditions and the financial status of the organization. Participants at the congress are also debating work projects which will be carried out over the next five years. Among some of the delegates to the congress are students and professors from the Universities of Oriente, Camaguey, Pinar del Rio and the Jose Antonio Echevarria Politechnical Institute in Havana. GERMAN TRAVEL AGENTS ATTEND SEMINAR ON TOURISM IN SANTIAGO DE CUBA Santiago de Cuba, March 19(RHC)-- The importance of tourism in the Caribbean was the main topic discussed during a seminar in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba. Attending the meeting were 32 German travel agents who are touring the region. The German visitors have also been able to get a first-hand look at what Santiago de Cuba offers -- touring the Tropicana Cabaret, several museums, cigar factories, rum distilleries as well as enjoying cultural and natural attractions. The group of German travel agents has already visited the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands. According to the Director of the Tourism Office of the Dominican Republic in Germany, Petra Cruz, the Caribbean continues to be the main tourist destination for Europeans.
