led NATO aggression against Yugoslavia.

AUTHORITIES TRY TO PREVENT ANTI-WAR MARCH IN WASHINGTON

A U.S. anti-war organization, the International Action
Center, is protesting efforts to prevent an anti-war march
to the Pentagon this Saturday, June 5th.  According to the
organization, Arlington County Police, in collusion with the
White House and the Pentagon, have denied a permit to march
on a small stretch of a Virginia roadway between the Vietnam
Veteran's Memorial, located Washington DC, and the Pentagon,
located in Virginia.

The peace activists have charged that authorities are
trying to reroute the march to a narrow and dangerous bike
trail that, at several points, becomes a single-file line
crossing a major highway.  They said police know is not a
safe or tenable route for a large march.

The International Action Center says Saturday's planned
march will be the largest protest to date against the U.S.-
led NATO war against Yugoslavia, expecting some 10,000
activists -- and that the move to prevent it is a violation
of their constitutional rights under the First Amendment.
