Alarcon added that Cuban-American terrorist Luis Posada Carriles -- who recently boasted that his activities were paid for by the right-wing group -- freely moves about in the United States following his escape from a Venezuelan prison in 1985. Carriles had been charged with masterminding the 1976 terrorist bomb that exploded on a Cuban civilian airliner after taking off from Barbados, killing all 73 passengers aboard. Since then, he set up a base of operations in Central America, from where -- according to influential U.S. news dailies --he has directed other terrorist attacks against Cuba. Cuba's former foreign minister and United Nations diplomat insisted that the U.S. government has a moral and political problem with the existence of the Cuban-American National Foundation which, added Alarcon, financially contributes to both Republican and Democratic congressional candidates and participates in official activities in Washington. He said that "those whose hands are stained with the blood of innocent people have been invited to the White House and have close ties with political leaders who are supposed to condemn terrorism." Alarcon also made reference to Cuban-American terrorist Orlando Bosch, currently living in Miami, and to last year's assassination plot against Cuban President Fidel Castro -- which was to have taken place during the Iberoamerican Summit on Venezuela's Margarita Island. Last weekend, The Miami Herald reported that Posada Carriles and three Cuban-Americans based in Miami were plotting to assassinate the Cuban leader during his upcoming visit to the Dominican Republic. Dominican authorities announced this week that one unnamed Cuban exile had been deported from that country after having entered from neighboring Haiti and that other Cuban exiles were being watched -- particularly those from Miami. 800,000 TOURISTS VISITED CUBA DURING FIRST SEVEN MONTHS OF THIS YEAR Havana, August 14(RHC)-- Cuba's Tourism Ministry has announced that 800,000tourists visited the island during the first seven months of this year.
