November 10, 2001:

Arnie writes that two of RHC's North American frequencies -- 6000 KHz and 9820 kHz -- are off the air. RHC is only broadcasting at 9550 kHZ AM and 11705 kHz until electrical and other repairs are made.

Here is Arnie's e-mailed report:

NY Transfer News

I am just now back on line, with AC power restored, phone line here never stopped working during the Hurricane. Have recovered running water from Cuenca Sur aqueduct also. Damages are huge, especially in Isle of Youth, Cayo Largo, Matanzas, Cienfuegos and Villa Clara.

Some may see as a miracle that we have only lost 5 persons' lives to the storm, but this was due to the tremendous job of the civil defense, government and Communist Party organizers that produced the largest-ever evacuation of people in Cuban history.

Now we are already planting sweet potatoes (they grow in about 60 to 75 days) and other fast short cycle crops. Banana plantations were very badly hit and will require more than one year to come back.

RHC - Only 9550 kHZ AM and 11705 kHz on the air:

Station is still off the air on 6000 kHz and 9820 Khz, our main frequencies to North America, we are able to keep working on 9550 kHz AM and 11705 Khz every evening until electricity and other repairs are done.
